Efret chosen to deliver vital race day equipment for the King’s prestigious athletics event.

Since 1972, Swiss Timing and their partners Omega have been at the forefront of international sports events timekeeping activities. They have supplied state of the art timing equipment to many of the world’s leading sporting events, including the Olympic Games.

Swiss Timing’s commitment to sport:

Working closely with the governing federations of more than 100 sports, Swiss Timing engineers and specialists are committed to creating timekeeping technologies and processes that are equal to the ever-changing requirements of a broad range of events and sports.

In the company’s history, these have included such breakthroughs as photoelectric cells, photo-finish cameras, touch pads in swimming pools, and starting blocks with false start sensors. Every year, new technologies are introduced to serve the sporting federations and event organisers, to record the incredible performances of the world’s best athletes, and to inform spectators and fans around the world.

A transport challenge:

Transporting all that valuable and sensitive time keeping equipment from one global event to another represents a significant challenge and one that can only be entrusted to experienced and reputable carriers.

Security and precision are of paramount importance to ensure that the delicate apparatus involved, such as digital scoreboards and cameras, arrives at the destination on time and in perfect condition. Failure to do so could jeopardise the entire sporting event, therefore the carrier must have total control over its drivers and routes must be expertly planned to allow for all eventualities, including border crossings and potential customs clearance delays.

The Morocco Mission: The Diamond League Athletics meeting in Rabat

Officially known as the Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athlétisme de Rabat, this annual track and field event is named after the King of Morocco. Taking place in Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, this is the North African leg of the Diamond League Athletics series, featuring elite competitors from all over the world.

Swiss Timing chose Efret's Morocco service to transport their equipment to and from this prestigious occasion which involved two synchronised trucks delivering across multiple borders to Rabat on the 22nd May, just in time for the event.

Efret’s expert customs team took care of the complex formalities enabling both trailers, one from the ST head-quarters in Corgémont in Switzerland and another from Leipzig in Germany, to clear and deliver on time. The driver-accompanied vehicles waited for the end of the event and reloaded the equipment ready to be safely transported back to their origin.

Such is the importance of this event that King Mohammed VI himself is mentioned in shipment documentation as the custodian of the timing apparatus during its temporary spell in Morocco.

When the races are run and the medals are awarded, spare a thought for the complex logistics operation involved in making sure that the athletes’ efforts are measured and recorded and the crowd on the day can enjoy instant results.

Just like a professional relay team, Swiss Timing passed the baton to Efret who delivered on the global stage!
